IGS AISAT Award is instituted jointly by Indian Geotechnical Society (IGS) and Albertian Institute of Science and Technology (AISAT) is to promote research in the area of Geotechnical Engineering at post graduate level in Kerala State. The main objective of the IGS –AISAT award competition, conducted annually for the M.Tech Civil Engineering students of Kerala is to promote research in the area of Geotechnical Engineering. It also provides them a plat-form to showcase their final year M.Tech thesis, done as a part of the curriculum, to a larger sector of the society including industry professionals. This event will also help them to interact with other innovative minds and get access to latest developments in civil engineering.
The IGS-AISAT Award Competition for the best M Tech thesis in Geotechnical engineering in Kerala was conducted on 10th July 2019 at Seminar Hall, A Block, AISAT. The program started at 9:30am with a formal function with the address by Sri. M D Nair, Chairman, IGS Kochi Chapter and Dr. Babu T Jose, Patron, IGS, Kochi Chapter. The selected finalists from a lot of 20 candidates presented their M.Tech thesis before the judges for the final evaluation. 11 participants from NIT Calicut, Cusat, Saintgits, AISAT and Marian Engineering College presented their work before the judges. The event was judged by Dr. Anitha G Pillai and Dr. Kavitha P E. From the 11 presentations, the best 5 Thesis were shortlisted and announced on the same day. The IGS- AISAT award for the best M.Tech Thesis in Kerala which comprises of a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- . The winner of the competition will be announced on 27th September 2019 during Prof. Praphulla Kumar Lecture series. The authors of the best five thesis among the finalists will also be honored with certificates of appreciation and mementos on the same day.
